Tartan Shirt - Miss Selfridge
Skater Skirt - Topshop
Heels - Faith
Rings - Topshop
Nail Varnish - Orly
Considering how much I love Tartan at the moment, it's a bit crazy that this is the very first Tartan item I've ever bought! I think lately I've been seeing it a lot on other people, and admiring from a far, but when I spied this shirt in Miss Selfridge the other day, I felt like it had my name on it! There's something really festive about tartan I think, it's a really Autumn/Winter kind of print and I can't believe I don't own more of it. This shirt is my new favourite though; I love the black leather-look collar - I'm wearing it undone because it's a bit tight around my neck - and the black shiny buttons are great too. I love shirts like this that you can either wear done up or left open depending on what you're wearing!
I feel like I haven't worn a skirt for ages so its nice to finally put one on again! I love skater skirts that swirl around when you walk and this one from Topshop has always been a standard favourite; you can wear it with so many things and it's ideal for putting a belt around if you want to. Skirts are yet another Petite nightmare, figuring out the length and trying to find one that doesn't reach your ankles is pretty much mission impossible, so it's always amazing when I stumble on a skirt like this which somehow fits pretty well. The heels are from Faith (a few years ago now) and I've always loved the chunky-ish heel, they're pretty high but have lasted so well and they're a really elegant style of heel.
Yet again, I've been upstaged by my cat - Tabby this time - who couldn't stay out of the way of my photos. The two cats we have are outdoor cats, so they're always roaming around in the garden, and the minute I go outside, they come charging out of the nearest bush and start parading around in front of the camera lense...what can I say...there are three posers in the family! Cat's aside, I really do love outfits like this and the skirt/shirt combo is one of my favourites, it's quite a girly, feminine look, but you can make it a little more devious with a splash of red tartan and black leather! I've a sneaky feeling this is going to be the first tartan item of many...

Love this look - the tartan looks fantastic and I agree it is very festive! Look forward to seeing more tartan posts :D X
